Inform Diagnostics offers COVID-19 testing through our molecular testing facilities in Phoenix and Dallas. Our labs deliver timely, definitive results for COVID-19 testing—once we’ve received a specimen, you can expect results in 1–2 business days.
You can use our kits or your own supplies, as long as they follow our COVID-19 specimen collection requirements. We are contracted with the majority of insurance payors. If you would like to pay out of pocket for coronavirus testing, your cost is our cash-pay price of $150 per specimen.
Our COVID-19 testing services
We use the ABI 7500 and QuantStudio™ real-time PCR systems for our own lab-developed SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR Assay. The assay detects nucleic acid from the SARS-CoV-2 virus via a nasopharyngeal or oropharyngeal swab.
COVID-19 testing must be ordered by a healthcare provider. Patients should see their healthcare provider to discuss their symptoms and request testing.

What type of COVID-19 testing does Inform Diagnostics offer?
We offer molecular testing, which detects RNA from current virus. Specifically, the Inform Diagnostics test assay provides qualitative detection of nucleic acid from the SARS-CoV-2 virus from a nasopharyngeal or oropharyngeal swab. Our test is a lab-developed reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) assay.
What is the difference between molecular and antibody testing?
Molecular testing detects current virus from a swab of the patient’s nose or throat. Antibody testing detects antibodies from a past virus infection via a blood sample. See our side-by-side comparison.
What is Inform Diagnostics’ turnaround time to deliver test results?
Our standard turnaround time for COVID-19 testing is 1–2 business days after receiving the specimen in our lab.
Where does Inform Diagnostics perform COVID-19 testing?
We perform all COVID-19 testing at our molecular laboratories in Phoenix and Dallas and include overnight UPS shipping.
Does Inform Diagnostics have the capacity to take on more cases?
YES! Our molecular labs have the capacity for more cases, and we can ramp up our capacity even further as needed. Our turnaround is 1–2 business days after receiving the specimen in our lab.
Does Inform Diagnostics perform specimen collection?
No, however we do provide testing collection supplies for our clients to perform the collection step. Contact our Client Services team to order supplies.
Who can submit specimens?
Testing can be requested by healthcare centers, employers, schools, or congregate care settings. Inform Diagnostics requires that the testing requisition be submitted by an authorized healthcare provider with an NPI number—a physician, nurse practitioner or physician assistant.
How are specimens transported to Inform Diagnostics’ lab?
We offer overnight shipping via UPS. Contact our Client Services team to request an electronic return service label (RSL). We provide courier pickups for local clients in the Phoenix and Dallas areas.
How are test results delivered?
Our default report delivery is via fax. Providers also can access reports on our web portal.
What equipment does Inform Diagnostics use to perform COVID-19 testing?
Inform Diagnostics uses the ABI 7500 and QuantStudio™ real-time PCR systems.
Is COVID-19 testing covered by insurance?
Each insurance plan is different, and Inform Diagnostics is in-network with the majority of U.S. payors. We require billing information and patient details with each test requisition in order to provide sufficient information to applicable insurance plan(s).
What is Inform Diagnostics’ cash-pay price for COVID-19 testing?
Our listed cash-pay price is $150. For high-volume testing, ask us about institutional pricing.
What is the cost to the patient for COVID-19 testing?
The federal government has issued guidance that patients should not be billed for any COVID-19 testing ordered for any valid diagnostic purposes, and patients will not receive a bill from Inform Diagnostics for this testing. Testing for non-diagnostic purposes, such as return to work or school, may result in costs billed to the responsible party.
