Hepatopathology Services from Inform Diagnostics
While Inform Diagnostics is recognized as a leading provider of academic-caliber GI pathology diagnostic services, did you know about our expertise in hepatopathology? Several pathologists at Inform Diagnostics have extensive experience and expertise in hepatopathology, including medical liver disease, hepatic neoplasms and liver transplant biopsies. Unless fellowship trained, most pathologists have very little exposure to hepatopathology during their residency training, especially in medical liver diseases. While routine cases, such as hepatitis C, might not be a problem, more complex cases, such as autoimmune hepatitis or primary biliary cirrhosis, pose a challenge for a pathologist without specialty training.
At Inform Diagnostics, the liver pathology service includes nationally known leaders in the field of hepatopathology. All our hepatopathologists have extensive experience in both adult and pediatric liver diseases and routinely interact closely with clinicians in order to render accurate diagnoses. In addition, consensus conferences are held to discuss difficult cases. Primary members of our liver service include the following pathologists:
Dr. Salima Haque has more than 18 years of experience in liver pathology including transplant pathology, having run the liver pathology service at Tulane since 1994 where she served as Professor and Head of Gastrointestinal and Liver Pathology. She has been named to the “Best Doctors in America” list every year since 2004. Dr. Haque has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and has been sought after nationally as a lecturer on GI and liver pathology. Her interests are NASH, viral hepatitis, autoimmune hepatitis, drug-induced liver disease, biliary cirrhosis, hepatic neoplasms and liver transplantation.
Dr. Shari Taylor, another nationally renowned hepatopathologist, has more than 14 years experience in hepatopathology, including medical, transplant, and neoplastic liver pathology. She previously served as the hepatopathologist at the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington, and at the University of Tennessee.
Liver biopsies can be sent to Inform Diagnostics for routine diagnostic services or for expert second opinions. Our pathologists are easily accessible by phone or email.
